US Navy F/A-18E and F/A-18F "Super Hornet" aircraft from Carrier Air Wing One (CAW-1) depart Naval Air Station Pensacola (KNPA) for Naval Air Station Oceana (KNTU) on Sunday November 22nd 2015 after returning from a nine month deployment. CVW-1 departed Norfolk in March 2015 and included 1,600 men and women. The unit was deployed on three different carriers: first the USS Ronald Reagan, then the USS George Washington and the USS Theodore Roosevelt, which then sailed to it’s new homeport at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego. While on deployment, CVW-1 totaled 10,618 combat flight hours during Operation Inherent Resolve, a campaign bombing ISIS targets.
