Naval Aviators representing a cross section of the US Navy and Marine Corps descend upon Naval Air Station Pensacola (KNPA) in Pensacola Florida for the United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor Program two week fall 2016 Pensacola detachment from October 6th to October 20th 2016. The US Navy's Fighter Weapons School is based aboard Naval Air Station Fallon (KNFL) in Fallon Nevada and is commonly referred to as "TOP GUN". Instructor pilots from the Naval Air Warfare Development Center (NAWDC) flew a series of over water dissimilar air to air combat sorties against student pilots from VFA-22 "Fighting Redcocks", VFA-25 "The Fist of the Fleet", VFA-41 "Black Aces", VFA-81 "Sunliners", VFA-97 "Warhawks", VFA-136 "Knighthawks", and VFA-151 "Vigilantes".
