USFS/ NPS Southern Appalachian Air Attack Base, 27Nov16

Civilian firefighting aircraft sit alert at the joint US Department of Agriculture - Forest Service/ US Department of the Interior - National Park Service "Southern Appalachian Air Attack Base" on the Lovell Field Airport (KCHA) in Chattanooga Tennessee on Sunday November 27th 2016. Aircraft assigned to the effort include a former US Navy 1980 EC-130Q "TACAMO Hercules" (N130FF, CN 161495) operated by Coulson Aviation USA based in Reno Nevada, two 1996 British Aerospace Avro 146-RJ85A (N355AC, N366AC) tankers operated by Aero-Flite Aerial Firefighting based in Spokane Washington, and two Beechcraft "King Air" lead/ command-and-control planes. Dozens of forest fires have raged across drought-stricken eastern Tennessee, northern Georgia, and western North Carolina since early October and over seventy percent are believed to be the result of arson.
